Child and Adolescent Therapy
Child and Adolescent Therapy

Dr. Cantrell approaches child therapy with different treatment modalities. Behavioral parent strategies can create compliance at home and decrease parental stress. Play therapy and cognitive behavioral interventions are often utilized for self-regulation, problem-solving, social skills development, and conflict resolution.

Adolescence is a difficult time in development. Several conflicts arise such as the desire for autonomy and upholding responsibilities at school and at home. Adolescents are navigating social and dating conflicts as well as complying with parental rules while simultaneously desiring independence. All of these stressors can elicit internalizing and externalizing behaviors. Dr. Cantrell implements different treatment modalities depending upon the presenting symptoms. Therapeutic interventions may include: family systems, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and solutions-focused therapy. Each treatment plan is tailored to meet the individual needs of the adolescent and family.
